There are many people asking me about what wild-caught fish is, whether it is good, and why my fish farm “Black Diamond Mania” likes the wild-caught one more than other kinds of fish, so let’s find the answers with me.
The word “wild-caught fish” is used to call a fish caught from a natural source of water. The word “wild-caught” literally refers to the animals caught from the wild, so we call it like that.
How good the wild-caught fish is.
Actually, there’s nothing complicated. It’s called like that only to emphasize that the fish is caught from natural sources of water, and each species exist differently depending on the regions. For example, a silver barb is easily caught from water sources in Thailand while a black diamond ray can be normally found in the rivers in Brazil.
Why I like the wild-caught fish.
The beginning point of why I’ve petted fish is for my hobby. I keep ornamental fish for my pleasure. To say the truth, there’s only one main reason. I just pet the beautiful fish I like, and I think that’s enough.
However, there was a thought for a short while that I should breed Black Diamond rays and sell their babies as my part-time job. I thought I should have some own strengths because some ornamental fish farms in Thailand raised only purebred fishes while some were excited at breeding across species to create interesting and unique skin patterns.
Thinking over and over again… then, let’s go!
Developing purebred fish to come out beautifully probably suited me. At the beginning, there was a problem that pure-blooded Black Diamond rays looked very like other mixed species of rays. In case of not being able to differentiate them and getting half-blood fish, their after-generations would look strange and unsatisfied, and that was the real problem.
After I got that idea, I decided to start from choosing the wild-caught fish as a breeder. I thought it was the purest and nothing got the purest blood rather than the wild-caught one, so this was the starting point of my farm Black Diamond Mania, thenceforward.
Meticulously fish-selecting!
It’s because I believe that if parents look good (whether they are fishes or humans), their children will get more than 90% of opportunity to have a good appearance like their parents. So, my task of seeking for ornamental wild-caught fish started!
First, I have to say that I’ve selected the fish to be the breeders for years before I have beautiful Black Diamond breeders like now. The beautiful fish parents don’t only increase the opportunity of their lovely children, but they also emphasize the purpose of keeping fish as my hobby. I’m happy watching those beautiful fish in tanks and ponds where every fish satisfies me undoubtedly.
Personally, I select the fish by myself every time. For example, when I imported Super Red Arowanas, I always flied abroad to pick them. Thus, my suggestion for customers on how to pick fishes is that “selecting a fish is like selecting a partner”. It’s because each person has his or her own taste, otherwise our partner would look the same wherever we lived in this world. For this point of view, I believe that we should select the most satisfying fish for ourselves by ourselves. You don’t have to ask others because they might like “Yaya” while you might prefer “Jenny”, who knows?
I also believe that if the fish hit it off with us (like they’re our soulmates), they will support our prestige, luck, and progress. That’s why the Black Diamond Mania farm always meticulously select fish as the breeders for providing good species of the baby fish in the farm.
The customers can be sure that the babies they get are born to the wild-caught breeders from natural sources of water, and they are also born to the beautiful wild-caught parents that I carefully pick by myself. So, it’s a chip off the old block!
It’s not necessary to be the best at everything, but to be the best at the point we choose. That’s enough.
And this is one of the stories of my favorite and money-made hobby.
